There are many reasons why I decided to study health and physical education. Firstly, when I was growing up I always wanted to be a teacher but I didn't want to teach a core subject. A main reason on why I chose to go into health education is because I never had a good health teacher when I was in school. Since I have grown up I have realize that I didn't learn a lot of key information that I should of learned when I was in health. My main goal as a health teacher is to be a positive outlook for my students and teach them the knowledge they would need to live long, healthy lives. I also want to teach my student activities they can play for a lifetime instead of just playing kickball everyday in PE. Overall, I want to be the teacher I never had when I was in school.
Sometimes it is hard to find ways to be physically active, but there is something for everyone. I personally enjoy playing pickleball or going on long walks, either by myself or with friends. The great thing about being active is you don't always have to do it with someone but you don't always have to be alone. There are many ways you can be physically active like going on a bike ride, going swimming, going on a run, taking the stairs, or playing frisbee. The options are endless, and as long as you are getting your body moving, you are being active.
I think it is very important that physical activity and health are still being taught. I think health as a whole in America is declining so i think the importance is only growing. If physical activity stops being taught, overall health may decline as individuals become more sedentary, leading to higher risks of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and poor mental health. Without exercise education, people may also lose important knowledge about how to stay active safely and maintain lifelong fitness habits.
ReplyDeleteI have similar reasons for wanting to become a health and physical education teacher. I have always had a love for moving and being active. I have also always wanted to be a teacher and started teaching swim lessons which helped me to confirm my passion of teaching. I love being a reliable person that students can come to very week or every day to learn but in a fun way that doesn't make it feel like learning. I also had many great people to look up while in school and sports making me want to be that person even more for somebody else.
